Playing With Historical Portraiture

In this line of work, I learn a little more about historical figures than I otherwise would. Battista Sforza lived in the mid 1400s and was married at age 13 to Federico da Montefeltro, Duke of Urbino, a man who was 24 years her senior. The classic Piero della Francesca portraits of this pair were painted in profile because the Duke’s right eye was lost during a tournament. Their figures stand in front of the majestic lands of Urbino, Italy. History aside, my challenge was to figure out how to make Battista’s wonderful headpiece look right on a dog’s head.
